Father, son collaborate for publication

“I always wanted to have a paper with him.”

For 线上赌博app professor of finance and department chair Fariz Huseynov, research is nothing new, but publishing alongside his father for the first time is an experience he’ll never forget.

Fariz’s father, Khanoglan Huseynov, has dedicated more than 50 years to teaching and leading at Azerbaijan Cooperation University, where he currently serves as Dean of Accounting and Computer Sciences. At 77 years old, retirement isn’t on his radar. Teaching, he says, is simply who he is.

Although father and son have spent years discussing economics and finance, they’d never collaborated on research until now.

“I always wanted to have a paper with him,” Fariz said. “But he’s so busy with his administrative work. I knew if we were going to do it, we had to do it now.”

Working together turned out to be a joy. “It was much easier to work with my dad than with a colleague,” Fariz laughed. “We think alike, we trust each other, and there was much less back-and-forth than usual.”

Fariz was hoping the publication acceptance would arrive before his father’s birthday on August 5. On August 2, Fariz called his dad to share the news. “He was very happy,” Fariz said.

If Fariz had to describe the collaboration in one word, it would be appreciation. “I am who I am because of his academic pursuits. I grew up reading his books. He’s the one who encouraged me to study finance, to become a scholar, and to value teaching the way he does.”

Would they do it again? “If the right topic comes up… probably,” Fariz said with a smile.
