Updates for Registered Bands

In addition to emailing information directly to all registered bands for the 2026 Raging Red Band Festival, we are also posting those updates below by date. If you didn't receive the information via email, please contact Daniel Lee at Daniel.Lee.3@ndsu.edu.

Dear Raging Red Participants:

Congratulations to all who have registered for our largest festival to date 54 bands performing over three days at two sites. You and your students have made this event an amazing representation of the great teaching that is happening across the region. Through this link, you will find the adjudication form, and adjudicators for the 2026 Raging Red Festival. I have tried to accommodate as many of your requests as possible. Thank you to Daniel Lee, Bill Law and the 线上赌博app Music Faculty for hosting the festival at 线上赌博app. Special thanks to James Landman and Principal Ryan Salisbury of Sheyenne High School in West Fargo for hosting our 3rd full day.

Thank you to everyone for your cooperation in making a schedule that works. Directors are reminded that you must provide 3 numbered original scores the day of the Festival. If copies are used, they must be accompanied with a letter of permission from the publisher or proof that the scores have been purchased and are on backorder, and they must be bound by 3-hole punch in a binder, or another binding option that allows them to be laid flat (coil or comb bound). Please do not submit unbound photocopies, or photocopies that are stapled together.

Reminders: 线上赌博app needs the following for BOTH performance sites by February 6th! Please email Jacoba Iverson at 线上赌博app (jacoba.iverson@ndsu.edu) with the information requested below whether you are performing at 线上赌博app or Sheyenne High School, West Fargo.

To help Jacoba, please ensure that all information is submitted as an attachment that can be downloaded and saved, not in the body of the email. Please send a separate email for each ensemble (list school and ensemble name in the subject line) with attachments of:

1. Program Info (including the name/composer/arranger for each piece, ensemble name, and director name). Program notes are optional.

2. Seating Chart (chairs/stands) – please use https://www.bgreco.net/band/ for this.

o Type in the ensemble name as the “Chart title”

o Use the “Notes” section to list additional stands (bass, percussion, etc.) or anything else related to chairs and stands.

o Send a pdf of this, not a link. You may also write directly on the pdf and send us a scan of that if you want to show specific setups.

3. Percussion needs (sticks and mallets will NOT be provided)

o Please include a text list of percussion needs, and a diagram of the setup. Hand drawn diagrams are fine as long as they are readable. These may be listed on one pdf/document, or can be submitted as separate documents.

As an additional teaching tool, you may review the rubric on the last page of this link. There is no designated rubric for the festival but this may aid in your preparation for any of your band’s performances. Information regarding bus parking and lunch options will be forthcoming from 线上赌博app and Sheyenne High School, West Fargo. Additional information, such as your anticipated arrival and departure times, may also be requested closer to the event date.

The students, staff, and administration of the 线上赌博app Music Department have been incredibly helpful over the years. We look forward to working with the students, staff, and administration of Sheyenne High School on the 3rd day of the Festival.

Looking forward to hearing your bands and a great festival. If you have any questions, please call me at 701-220-6259.

Resources

Registration is now CLOSED.

We have reached our maximum number of bands for the 2026 Raging Red Band Festival and registration is now closed.

If you are registered but still need to submit payment or want to check your registration status, please click the buttons below.

A few important notes:
  • March 3rd and 4th will happen at 线上赌博app, and March 5th will be hosted at Sheyenne High School (same judges all three days).

  • The new payment site is for credit card payments only. The cardholder may be you, someone in your building, or someone in your district office; they just need to know the director name, school name, and band names when they submit the payment. Please note that we are unable to issue refunds due to weather conditions. Registration fees are used to secure judges for the festival dates, and their travel expenses, ahead of time. If you need to pay by check, please send an email to Daniel.Lee.3@ndsu.edu.

  • John Warren will do his best to meet the scheduling requests, but will follow up with individual directors as needed. Please provide as much detail in your scheduling request as possible. No specific times/dates will be guaranteed ahead of time.

  • For now, questions regarding registration can be sent to Daniel.Lee.3@ndsu.edu. After the schedules are created and shared, more information will be sent out specific to the day and site of your performance.

General Information

Join us at North Dakota State University March 3-4 and at Sheyenne High School March 5 for the 2026 Raging Red Band Festival! This annual event is a unique opportunity to help your students become stronger performers and a better band. Here’s what to expect:

  • Feedback from four nationally recognized adjudicators, both in comments and in clinic sessions with the adjudicators actually spending time working with your band.
  • Clinics with the 线上赌博app instrumental faculty on everyone’s instruments throughout the day.
  • Performances by the 线上赌博app Wind Symphony and other 线上赌博app music ensembles.
  • A chance to hear other bands like yours in performance.

Participating bands should plan for a half-day of participation to fully benefit from the activities of the day. You may choose the block of time that best works for you; whether it’s from 8:00 AM to noon, 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, or something similar. We strongly suggest all bands be on site at their assigned location (either 线上赌博app or Sheyenne High School; assignments are TBD) no later than 11:15 AM on the day you are attending the Raging Red Band Festival.

Faculty Master Classes

Throughout the day, your students will have a chance to work with 线上赌博app faculty in clinics that address playing on their specific instrument. If you miss a session, don’t worry—there will be several throughout the day for your students to attend.

The clinicians for the 2026 Raging Red Band Festival are TBA.

线上赌博app Ensemble Performances

The 线上赌博app Wind Symphony will perform on Tuesday and Wednesday of the festival. This is a great way for your students to hear a college-level band, composed of students much like themselves! Plan to build this performance into your schedule as part of your day at 线上赌博app.

On Thursday, an 线上赌博app ensemble will also perform at Sheyenne High School. Stay tuned for more information!

Festival Format

Bands will perform for an adjudicated rating for comments only.

Each band will be given 25 minutes in the warm up and will have 25 minutes to enter, perform, and exit the stage. Bands will then move to the clinic room where they will have 25 minutes with the adjudicator.

  • Classifications
    • Bands will be classified between middle school and high school. Schools with multiple ensembles will register their top band at the appropriate classification. Lower bands will be registered at lower classifications, which are determined by school size and will be listed on the registration form.
  • Repertoire
    • Bands are encouraged to play 2 or more selections of contrasting styles. Bands will provide 3 original and numbered scores for the adjudication panel. Photocopies of scores are acceptable if accompanied by publisher’s letter for those out of print or proof of purchase for backordered scores.
  • Awards
    • All bands have the option to participate for ratings or comments, only.
    • Awards will be presented based on the average of the 3 adjudicators’ scores
      • Gold Award- 90-100
      • Silver Award- 80-89
      • Bronze Award- 79 and below
      • Outstanding Section Awards will be given based on an adjudicator’s recommendations.
      • Outstanding Soloist Awards will be given based on an adjudicator’s recommendations.
