4-H provides hands-on, real life experiences through projects, activities, and events to youth in Kidder County. Use the links below to learn about the North Dakota 4-H Youth Development program, 4-H Camp, and the 4-H Foundation.

4-H is the largest youth development organization in the nation. Youth can gain life-long skills and experiences in major project areas such as science, agriculture and civic engagement. If you'd like to learn more about 4-H in Kidder County or if you are ready to enroll or volunteer, please contact us or complete a request for information.
Club Members
The Kidder County Roughriders are open to youth of all ages. Cloverbud members, ages 5 to 7, and 4-H members, ages 8-18, participate together in club meetings. Roughriders is the largest club in our county with over 30 youth ages 5 to 18. So if a busy, diverse club, with members of all ages is what you are looking for, the Roughriders might be the club for you!
Club Dues
The Roughriders club dues are $5 per member. Membership dues help to cover the cost of activities and events throughout the year.
Club Fundraisers
Club members actively participate in the county-wide annual ham dinner, county fair lunch stand sales, and various other fundraisers. Club fundraising varies each year and helps support learning activities and a club christmas party.
Project Area Interests
4-H Projects are real-life experiences that help the 4-H’ers learn life skills and make sound decisions. Members of this club actively explore projects in all areas, but many members enroll in horse and livestock projects!

Club Projects & Awards
Clean Stall Award. The Roughrider 4-H Club earned this award several times at the fair by keeping their livestock stalls neat, clean, and orderly, and working together to help each other
Meeting Date/Time/Location & Information
The Roughriders usually meet monthly on a Sunday at 1:00 pm at the Steele Community Center. The day will vary so contact a leader for details. Club leaders will send out a text reminder of the meeting. Each meeting includes a business meeting, a snack, and a member demonstration. They also have a Christmas party in November with a fun activity such as roller skating or bowling.

Club Members
The Kidder County Creative Kids are open to youth of all ages. Cloverbud members, ages 5 to 7, and 4-H members, ages 8-18, participate together in club meetings. Creative Kids is a small club with about a dozen from age 7 to 16 , so if a smaller club, with younger members is what you are looking for, Creative Kids might be the club for you!

Club Projects & Awards
Healthy North Dakota 4-H Club. The Creative Kids have earned this designation by integrating at least one health, nutrition, food safety, or physical activity into a minimum of six regular meetings during the year.
Meeting Date/Time/Location & Information
Meetings vary monthly so contact the leader for details. They are usually held monthly at Steele Community Building or hosted by a 4-H family. At each meeting the Creative Kids hold a business meeting, have a snack, a member does a demonstration, and there is a fun activity. They also have a Christmas party.

The Medina Hustlers are open to youth of all ages. Cloverbud members, ages 5 to 7, and 4-H members, ages 8 -18, participate together in club meetings. The Medina Hustlers is a small club with an emphasis on livestock, small and large static projects.

Tappen Ag is open to youth of all ages. Cloverbud members, ages 5 to 7, and 4-H members, ages 8-18, participate together in club meetings. Tappen Ag is a medium sized club with approximately 17 youth from age 5 to 18.

Tappen Ag has no annual club dues.

The primary fundraising event for this club is Bingo at the annual Tappen Harvestfest. Club members also participate in the county-wide annual ham dinner, county fair lunch stand sales, and various other fundraisers.

They have an annual float in the Tappen Harvestfest Parade and run community bingo during Harvestfest.

The Trailblazers club is open to youth of all ages. Cloverbud members, ages 5 to 7, and 4-H members, ages 8-18, participate together in club meetings.
This was a brand new club in 2024. Their membership filled up quickly and are currently not taking any new members. Contact the Extension office to learn more.

This club currently has a small dues fee since it is a new club. These dues help buy supplies for club projects.
